Abstract
As relações avós-netos sustentadas por uma partilha de amor, estima, carinho,
preocupações, partilha de história e interesse pela vida dos netos são uma temática
relevante visto que, são um fator importante no desenvolvimento da vida dos netos a
vários níveis. O presente estudo tem como objetivo compreender a influência das
relações entre avós e netos no desenvolvimento da inteligência emocional de
estudantes do ensino superior e, consequentemente, na sua adaptação ao ensino
superior. Participaram neste estudo 245 estudantes do Ensino Superior, 84.9% do
sexo feminino e 15.1% do sexo masculino com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os
25 anos (M = 18.87, DP = 1.45). Os resultados obtidos demonstraram a influência
positiva das relações entre avós e netos numa boa adaptação ao ensino superior dos
jovens. Ainda demonstraram o impacto das mesmas relações nos níveis de
inteligência emocional dos netos e também a sua consequente influência na
adaptação ao ensino superior. Este estudo apresenta um contributo para a Psicologia
dado que permitirá compreender o impacto das relações com os avós não só ao nível
da inteligência emocional dos netos, mas também na adaptação ao ensino superior
dos estudantes e ainda na compreensão da importância da inteligência emocional da
adaptação ao ensino superior.
Relationships between grandparents and grandchildren sustained by a sharing of love, estimation, affection, concerns, sharing history and interest in the grandchildren’s lives are a relevant theme since they are an important factor for the development at various levels of grandchildren lives. The present study aims to study the influence of relationships between grandparents and grandchildren on the development of emotional intelligence in higher education students and, consequently, on their adaptation to higher education. Participated in this study 245 students, 84.9% female and 15.1% male with ages between 18 and 25 years. The results showed that positive influence of relationships between grandparents and grandchildren in a good adaptation to their higher education. They also demonstrated the impact of this relationships on the emotional intelligence levels of the grandchildren and also their consequent influence on the adaptation to higher education. to This study constitutes a contribution to Psychology as it will allow us to understand the impact of relationships with grandparents not only in the levels of emotional intelligence, but also, in the students’ adaptation to higher education, also allow to understand the importance of emotional intelligence in the adaptation to higher education.
