Abstract
A implementação do ESDM
A amostra

The objective of this model is to reduce the severity of the ASD symptoms and accelerate the development of the children in every developmental area. The ESDM implementation includes an assessment of the child skills and the definition of objectives in every developmental area based on that assessment. This work´s objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of ESDM adaptations to the needs and environment of the families of children with ASD. The sample of this study is composed by six children with ages from 3 to 5 years old and their parents. The data collection was made through the records of the six children´s intervention sessions during the first five months of intervention of each child and through the parent´s responses of an inquiry. The results suggest that, in general, this group of children obtained significant progress what points to in spite of the a less intensive intervention from the one that the model advises, it maintained the its effectiveness but needs a larger period of time so that the results can be observed. It would be positive to plan an intervention to the parents to maximize their attitudes towards their son with ASD and to promote a positive parenthood on a perspective of parent training.
