Abstract
No contexto de trabalho existem regras organizacionais que influenciam a expressão e
regulação emocional dos sujeitos. Os trabalhadores devem seguir determinadas diretrizes
enquanto interagem com os clientes, fazendo com que o sujeito adote estratégias de trabalho
emocional para atingir os objetivos organizacionais. Estas estratégias de trabalho emocional
geram consequências que é relevante explorar, nomeadamente o seu papel no
desenvolvimento de stress. Este estudo tem como objetivo verificar a existência de
associação entre inteligência emocional, trabalho emocional, confiança organizacional e
stress ocupacional, e mais especificamente testar se as estratégias de trabalho emocional e a
confiança organizacional se podem constituir como variáveis moderadoras na predição do
stress ocupacional. O estudo contou com a participação total de 417 bombeiros assalariados e
não-assalariados de diferentes corporações Portuguesas. Foram encontradas correlações
significativas positivas entre inteligência emocional com confiança organizacional e trabalho
emocional, e correlações significativas negativas entre confiança organizacional e stress, e
entre inteligência emocional e stress. Relativamente às análises de moderação, foi verificado
que as estratégias de trabalho emocional e a confiança organizacional se constituem como
preditoras significativas positiva e negativa, respetivamente, do stress ocupacional.
In work settings there are organizational rules that influence emotional expression and management. Therefore, workers frequently must follow specific rules while interacting with customers, which imply that workers adopt emotional labor strategies to meet organizational goals. Consequentially, emotional labor strategies may cause both positive and negative consequences in the professionals. Therefore, this study has the aim to assess associations between emotional intelligence, emotional labor, organizational trust and occupational stress, and more specifically to test if the emotional labor strategies and organizational trust can me moderators in the prediction of stress. The study had the total participation of 417 salaried and non-salaried firefighters from different Portuguese corporations. Significant positive correlations were found between emotional intelligence and organizational trust with emotional labor, and significant negative correlations were found between organizational trust and stress, and also between emotional intelligence and stress. Regarding the moderation analyzes, it was verified that emotional labor strategies and organizational trust are significant positive and negative predictors, respectively, of occupational stress.
