Abstract
In recent decades, demographic evolution with the progressive aging of the population has acquired greater visibility, becoming a concern for the governments, researchers and the society in general. The RNCCI emerges as a response to the new health necessities and social support which claim appropriate and specific answers, ensuring care provision through inpatient units, outpatient units, hospital teams and domiciliary teams. Our research focused on the interest for the inpatient units. This work aims to study the integrated dependent elderly in the ULDM, in Bragança District, in 2012. To accomplish this research, in addition to the bibliographic systematization of relevant literature in this area, we called upon a simple descriptive study, being our sample composed by integrated ULDM elderly of Bragança District, in 2012. The data collection was conducted through a questionnaire administered to the unit's heads. Despite some limitations that come with our research, we highlight important data that positively responded to our initial question. It was observed that the studied population is predominantly female and aged markedly, regarding to the marital status, the users are mostly married and widowed. The users of these units have their residence mostly in Bragança District. Regarding the caregivers characteristics, we emphasize that these are relatives of the elderly, represented on a larger scale by female. For complementarity with the informal caregivers, the elderly also benefit from local institutions support, neighbors, and friends.
