Abstract
Contudo, a aposta no
The growing interest of the market in wine tourism activities has increasingly attracted the attention, both of the economic and political actors of wine-growing territories and of the respective communities, in the search for their own and sustainable development directions. However, the bet on wine tourism – of great interest in both the tourism and the wine sector – requires the promotion of a multiplicity of material and immaterial resources of the territory and its people, being essential to select those resources that show greatest potential, appeal and distinctive value, from the perspective of an increasingly demanding market. It is also important to understand how these resources can be integrated into a holistic experience, not only of isolated wine tourism services, but of landscapes, culture, history, traditions, symbols, interactions and relationships, an experience capable of arousing emotions, involvement, creating memories and attachment to place, its people and its products, including wine. It is in this context that tools for identifying and evaluating resources for wine-growing territories are proposed here, permitting the diagnosis of these territories’ potential as appealing and competitive wine tourism destinations. It also presents the perspective of analysis of the TWINE project, with the usefulness of these tools will be illustrated with data collected in the Rota da Bairrada.
