Abstract
A internacionalização do mobiliário e resultante criação de um cluster em Paços de
Ferreira, entendido como aglomeração geográfica, geralmente de pequenas e médias
empresas, especializadas num setor e instaladas num determinado local ou região,
produzindo efeitos na estratégia de internacionalização das empresas poderá representar
como um grande impulsionador do setor do mobiliário. Nesta investigação foi dado
especial enfoque à compreensão do tema da internacionalização e à consequente seleção
das modalidades de entrada. É essencial que se consigam identificar as principais
barreiras à entrada nos mercados internacionais, bem como os principais motivos para a
internacionalização das empresas do mobiliário e depois conhecer as principais
modalidades de entrada nos mercados internacionais. Conhecer os instrumentos para a
internacionalização, compreender e perceber como se chega à criação do cluster,
compreender as externalidades que daí advém, os contributos que pode vir a ter na
economia local e nacional e o que pode oferecer as empresas que façam parte do cluster.
Neste estudo, a técnica de recolha de dados utilizada para obtenção de dados primários
foi o inquérito por questionário, tendo sido obtidas 153 respostas válidas de empresas
instaladas em Paços de Ferreira. A amostra é na sua maioria composta por pequenas e
médias empresas, o que corresponde à estrutura de empresas predominantes em Paços
de Ferreira. Foi possível identificar os motivos que levaram as empresas a instalarem-se
em Paços de Ferreira, as modalidades de entrada nos mercados internacionais, o seu
grau de exportação, as suas motivações, o que é mais importante quando se vão
internacionalizar e as suas estratégias. Conclui-se que as empresas estão interessadas na
criação de um cluster do mobiliário, em fazer parte dele e também a representarem uma
marca única e global com força e poder junto dos mercados internacionais em feiras e
eventos.
The internationalization of furniture and the resulting creation of a cluster in Paços de Ferreira, understood as geographic agglomeration, usually of small and medium companies, specialized in a sector and installed in a certain place or region, having effects in the internationalization strategy of the companies could represent as a great booster of the furniture sector. In this investigation, special emphasis was given to understanding the theme of internationalization and to the consequent selection of the modalities of entry. It is essential to identify the main barriers to entry on international markets, as well as the main reasons for the internationalization of furniture companies and then to know the main entry modalities in international markets. To know the instruments for internationalization, to understand them and to understand how to arrive at the creation of the cluster, to understand the externalities that come from it, the contributions that may come to have in the local and national economy and what can offer the companies that are part of the cluster. In this study, the data collection technique used to obtain primary data was the questionnaire survey, and 153 valid answers were obtained from companies located in Paços de Ferreira. The sample is mostly composed of small and medium-sized companies, which corresponds to the structure of predominant companies in Paços de Ferreira. It was possible to identify the reasons that led companies to settle in Paços de Ferreira, the modalities of entry in international markets, their degree of export, their motivations, what is more important when they are going to internationalize and their strategies. It is concluded that the companies are interested in the creation of a cluster of furniture, to be part of it and also to represent a unique and global brand with strength and power in the international markets in fairs and events.
