Abstract
The following work reflects the development of an empirical study about impact of combination the risk factors in child development. The goals of this study are: to devise a study on the impact and effects of the combination of biological risk factors and environmental risk factors in the development of the child; certify that the biological risk factors influence the emergence of environmental risk factors; on the other hand, demonstrate that the environmental risk factors have influence on the emergence of biological risk factors; to prove that the accumulation and combination of risk factors compromise the overall and harmonious development of the child and to enhance the importance of early detection of development delays and disorders and ensuing intervention, assuming an ecological perspective, cumulative and transactional. The research methodology used was the case study because it is the most appropriate, as the study of events and complex contexts. In this way, two processes were analysed for the promotion and protection of the CPCJ (Committee on protection of children and young people) of São João da Madeira, because, both children benefit from early intervention in childhood and have, on their life stories, the presence of environmental and biological risk factors, which affect their development and put them in a situation of danger-negligence. So, with the completion of this study and after the analysis of the processes and all their constituent documents and the completion and analysis of the interviews at management techniques, processes the CPCJ in São João da Madeira can be mentioned that the accumulation and combination of risk factors seems to collapse the structures of protection on child's development and the biological risk factors. Therefore, the intervention must be conducted as early as possible, in order to promote the development of children as well as improving the quality of their life and their families.
