Abstract
A amostra incluiu adolescentes, pais
A triangulação
As
arrependimento, vergonha, e isolamento social.
No entanto, todas as adolescentes têm
The aim of this qualitative research consists mainly in understanding the meaning and the context of the experience of teenage pregnancy as well as its impact on family and school environment, especially its effects on the teaching-learning process. The sample of the research has included 10 adolescent girls, their parents and teachers from two secondary schools in Benguela (Angola). For the data collection, we have used semi-structured interviews and narrative questionnaires in order to obtain by means of the self- and hetero-perceptions of the three groups involved a dynamic view of the construction of meaning that regulates the interactions and hence the socio-emotional development and school learning of adolescents. The triangulation of data and cross-comparison of perceptions and narratives have showed various types of consonance and dissonance among the three groups. Adolescents refer to the pregnancy as unplanned, the most negative and defining moment of their biographies, with feelings of regret, shame, and social isolation. This negative assessment is largely shared by parents and teachers, which contributes to the stigmatization of adolescents, although the responsibility is attributed mainly to parents by their permissiveness and educational absence. Teachers, for their part, do not assign any responsibility to the school, thereby indirectly justifying the non-implementation of specific teaching strategies in the area of sexual education and compensatory education, and therefore the adolescents’decline in school performance and motivation for the study. However, all adolescent girls have ambitious perspectives for their future careers, all mentioned wanting to continue their studies through higher education. Parents recognize and reinforce this ambition, in sharp contrast to the low expectations of teachers who reveal a great skepticism about theirfuture.
