Abstract
The present work it is a master thesis, fruit of an empirical research developed in Angola, whose object is levied on the research in education in Angola, aiming to assess effectively the contribution of education to the national economic development. In view of strengthening the theoretical-conceptual framework, we sought to undertake a profound reflection around three key concepts: investment, education and economic development, in the context of whether to have provided a better understanding of the object of study. The units of analysis will demonstrate the variables more expressive, in relation to the reality of the educational setor and dynamics of development by that has passed the country in order to measure the need for investment in this key sector of the human being with regard to the context of constraints and existing resources over the years. The education in Angola has revealed to us in the last five years the quantitative and qualitative progress, translated in the increment of enrolment and of school attendance in primary education and qualification of teachers. On this basis, it has materialized the good level the 2nd Millennium goal (achieve universal primary education) but has been problematic the achievement of the 3rd goal, concerning the promotion of gender equality in education. Among the explanatory factors of inequalities are: the structure of the school network deficient in rural areas the poverty of families; and the cultural traditions (Rites of Initiation) which, in combination, prevent the permanence of girls in school, lead to the early discontinuation, to that follows the marriage and motherhood.
