Determinantes de preferência nos Hostels: Uma revisão da literatura

Abstract

O objetivo deste artigo é fazer uma revisão da literatura sobre o tema dos hostels, perceber as caraterísticas deste tipo de indústria, conhecer a literatura internacional sobre o assunto e perceber quais as variáveis e fatores importantes para os hóspedes. No início do artigo é efetuada a caraterização dos hostels e referida a importância da sua hospitalidade. Referem-se estudos sobre os preços hedónicos dos hostels e o impacto da sua localização na indústria hoteleira. Conclui-se que claramente se trata de uma indústria low cost, com hóspedes maioritariamente jovens, no geral com formação superior, que pretendem atividades mais informais nas férias, conhecer outros viajantes e organizar as suas viagens de forma independente e flexível.

The purpose of this paper is to review the literature on the subject of hostels, to understand the characteristics of this type of industry, to know the international literature on the subject and to understand which are the variables and the important factors for the guests. At the beginning of the article the characterization of the hostels is made, and the importance of their hospitality is mentioned. Studies on the hedonic prices of hostels and the impact of their location in the hotel industry are mentioned. It is easily concluded that it is a low-cost industry, with mostly young people, generally with higher education, who want more informal activities on vacation, to meet other travelers and to organize their trips independently and flexibly.
