Abstract
The consumption of substances is connected to the deterioration of the cognitive areas and executive functions, and the majority of the studies carried out in the area were done with the male sex. In other hand when the studies included the female sex, the data were not disaggregated by sex, being difficult to deduce their behaviours. The focus of this study is to describe and understand the neuropsychological profile in women with use of substances. Otherwise, we’ll be comparing the cognitive behaviour of that women, with women without consumption, and men with use of substances. The sample was constituted by 45 participants, divided into three groups: 15 women with substances consumption, 15 men with consumption, and 15 women without consumption. Individually, a battery of tests was applied in two sessions with a temporal distance of one week, allowing the evaluation the different cognitive areas and executive functions. The results show that women with substance consumption revealed significant cognitive deficits compared to women without consumptions. However, when compared with men with substance use, they show deficits in the same cognitive areas and executive functions, despite they have less years of consumption. It is concluded that the female sex is more vulnerable to the toxic effects of the substances.
