Abstract
This study addresses topics such as recruitment, selection of people, and their intersection with the promotion of decent work, using a systematic literature review. The aim is to critically analyse the existing scientific literature in this domain, exploring and identifying trends, patterns, gaps, and the evolution of these concepts over time. This study covers a specific period, starting in 1999, the year when the concept of decent work was formally introduced by the International Labour Organization. The use of a systematic literature review provides both a quantitative and qualitative perspective, highlighting emerging patterns, influential authors, identifying predominant research topics, and examining the geographical distribution of contributions. The inclusion and exclusion criteria for this study were defined in three phases. Three searches were conducted. Initially, in the first phase of the first two searches, the focus was on literature in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, from the period 1999 to 2024, using the B-On (Web of Science) and Scopus databases. In the second phase, the search concentrated on Management, Psychology, and Organizational Psychology. In the third phase, a manual screening was conducted, prioritizing the relevance and pertinence of the articles to the study topic. The third and final search involved the use of Grey Literature. This was conducted on Google Scholar, with the same time frame. Regarding the results, there was an identified intensification of academic production in the last 4 years, as well as the identification of eight predominant trends in the selection of bibliographic pieces, such as 1) Technology in R&S; 2) COVID-19; 3) Human Mobility and Work; 4) Trustworthiness of HRM; 5) Human Rights at Work; 6) Decision Making in HRM; 7) Responsible Recruitment; and 8) Sustainability. Finally, conceptual, and practical implications of the study's findings were discussed, as well as its limitations. This study not only contributes to the current state of knowledge in the field but also points out directions for future research, recognizing the importance of addressing decent work in the context of human resource management practices.
