Abstract
Assim e, neste contexto,
Assim
bolsista.
The world context has been marked by several crises, of which the subprime crisis and the sovereign debt crisis stand out. Amid that context, many economies entered a recession. Financial institutions did not fail because they were helped by governments, but they stopped giving credit to companies. Portugal was one of the countries most affected by these events. After the main indicators were analyzed, it was found that the domestic market was experiencing an unfavorable evolution compared to the years before the 2008 crisis. Thus, Portuguese companies that practically depended on foreign capital, found themselves de-capitalized when banks left to finance them. Thus, in this sense, it was necessary to look for different sources of financing that were based on the companies' equity. The capital market appears as a viable source for SMEs, more specifically the segment Euronext Growth. This market segment has conditions for admission and financial reporting. It can be concluded with this study that the capital market is an important source of financing and to be taken into account for companies, but that in Portugal it is still little used, all due to the weak stock market culture.
