Abstract
In the last two years, several studies have documented the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for the psychological adjustment of university students. However, few studies have analyzed how vaccination against COVID-19 may have influenced this adjustment. Thus, the main objective of this study is to understand whether vaccination against COVID-19 is associated with the subjective perception of safety and whether there are differences before and after the vaccination period in terms of academic stress and the association between psychological psychology and academic stress. in university students. The study consists of two independent samples, one collected in the pre-vaccination period, consisting of 640 students and the other collected in the post-vaccination period, consisting of 203 students. The results obtained suggest that most participants consider themselves moderately safer after vaccination against COVID-19, and perceive that vaccination had a positive impact on their mental health, academic stress and well-being. However, the perception of psychological safety arising from the COVID-19 vaccine is not a predictor of academic stress and academic stress levels are lower in the pre-vaccination period compared to the post-vaccination sample. Levels of psychological psychology predicted academic stress in both samples. In general, the present study allows us to conclude that university students seem to associate vaccination against COVID-19 with an increase in the subjective perception of safety, and with a more positive global perception regarding their mental health and well-being. This study also suggests that academic stress levels were lower in the pre-vaccination period against COVID-19 compared to the post-vaccination period, particularly with regard to the dimensions of social anxiety and self-esteem. The study has already contributed significantly to the existing literature, since it allows the understanding of measurements that can influence the academic stress of university students in the pre- and post-vaccination period against COVID-19, as is the case of flexibility.
