Abstract
O presente trabalho consiste num estudo de caso realizado numa escola do 2.º e 3.º ciclo do ensino básico, localizada na região norte de Portugal. O estudo tem como principal objetivo analisar o papel da comunicação na relação entre a escola e a família no contexto da adoção da caderneta digital integrada na plataforma GIAE (Gestão Integrada da Administração Escolar) e tem como sustentação os dados recolhidos junto de alunos, professores/diretores de turma e pais/encarregados de educação. Através dele procuramos dar resposta às seguintes questões de investigação: 1) Quais são as perceções de alunos, professores e encarregados de educação sobre o papel da comunicação escola-família? 2) Que desafios/constrangimentos se colocam à parceria escola-família? 3) Como melhorar a comunicação de forma a potenciar a relação escola-família? A investigação desenvolvida baseou-se, essencialmente, nas abordagens quantitativas, através da aplicação de um inquérito por questionário, que incluiu também questões abertas que, por sua vez, permitiram uma análise qualitativa de conteúdo. Houve ainda uma análise dos principais documentos estruturantes da vida de uma comunidade educativa tais como o projeto educativo, o regulamento interno e o plano anual de atividades. Por fim, procedeu-se à análise do último relatório de avaliação externa da escola e dos resultados estatísticos de um questionário aos encarregados de educação acerca da comunicação com a escola durante o confinamento devido à COVID-19.
Os resultados obtidos permitem concluir que a comunicação é o mecanismo mais adequado para a aproximação escola-família. O reconhecimento de fatores facilitadores e dificultadores deste processo, bem como as sugestões apresentadas pelos participantes permitem aperfeiçoar e potenciar a comunicação entre a escola, a comunidade educativa e a comunidade envolvente. A evidência científica advoga benefícios no que concerne à parceria escola-família no processo ensino-aprendizagem que se traduzem tanto no sucesso educativo como académico dos jovens. Atendendo ao facto de a parceria implicar um processo comunicacional para a prossecução dos objetivos delineados pelas entidades parceiras, a caderneta digital, como instrumento eletrónico, corporiza um dos principais canais de comunicação escola-família da atualidade.
This study consists of a case study carried out in a school of the 2nd and 3rd cycle of basic education, located in the northern region of Portugal. The main objective of the study is to analyse the role of communication in the relationship between school and family. The study arises in the context of the adoption of the digital notebook integrated in the GIAE platform (Integrated Management of School Administration) and is based on data collected from students, teachers, and parents / educators. The study seeks to answer the following research questions: 1) What are the perceptions of students, teachers, and parents about the role of communication in the relationship school-family? 2) What challenges/obstacles are placed on the school-family partnership? 3) How can we improve the role of communication to enhance the school-family relationship? The research carried out was essentially based on quantitative approaches, through the application of a questionnaire survey, which also included open questions that allowed a qualitative content analysis. There was also a document analysis of the main structuring documents of the school, such as the Educational Project, the internal regulations, and the annual plan of activities. The External Evaluation Report of the school and the statistical results of a questionnaire to parents about the communication with school during COVID-19 confinement were also analysed. The results obtained allow us to conclude that communication is the most suitable mechanism for bringing the school-family relationship closer together. The recognition of the facilitating and hindering factors in this process, as well as the suggestions made by the participants, allow the future improvement and enhancement of communication between the school, the educational community, and the surrounding community. Scientific evidence advocates benefits regarding the school-family partnership in the teaching-learning process, which results into both the educational and academic success of young people. Given the fact that the partnership implies a communication process for the pursuit of the objectives outlined by the partner entities, the digital booklet, as an electronic resource, comprises one of the main communication channels between the school and the family nowadays.
