Abstract
A Perturbação do Espectro do Autismo (PEA) é uma perturbação global do
desenvolvimento e as crianças com esta alteração apresentam, geralmente,
dificuldades nas áreas da socialização, do jogo, da linguagem e da comunicação.
O presente projeto, realizado na área da Educação Especial, no domínio
cognitivo e motor, pretende contribuir para uma melhor perceção acerca da
realidade do contexto escolar, nomeadamente no que concerne às respostas
educativas dadas às crianças com autismo e, simultaneamente, apresentar uma
discrição detalhada acerca da síndrome, das suas características e sintomas, assim
como do seu percurso evolutivo. Procuramos ainda identificar os principais
obstáculos e contornos do processo comunicacional que a criança autista manifesta
junto dos professores, bem como a perceção destes relativamente a esse processo e a
possíveis estratégias de intervenção/remediação. Daí que a questão que orientou o
percurso da investigação tenha sido “Quais as respostas da comunidade educativa
face às necessidades da comunicação da criança autista?”, e à qual se procurou
responder através da aplicação de um inquérito por questionário aos docentes do 1º
ciclo e docentes de educação especial da área do Vale do Sousa. Através deste
instrumento, pretendemos analisar as opiniões dos docentes relativamente às
ferramentas comunicacionais utilizadas em contexto escolar junto de alunos com
PEA. Os resultados obtidos pareceram confirmar apenas parte das nossas hipóteses,
pois concluímos que a equipa docente, num trabalho que se assume com lacunas e
limitações, procura responder às necessidades comunicacionais da criança com PEA.
The Autism Spectrum Disorder is a global developmental disorder and children with this change usually present problems to sociability, difficulty of play, language and communication. The present project, conducted in the area of Special Education, in the cognitive and motor developmental, aims for a better perception in the school context, particularly in relation to educational responses to children with autism, while simultaneously providing a detailed description of the syndrome, like the characteristics and symptoms, as well as its evolutionary path. This one assumes as his objective identifying the main obstacles of the autistic children communication, discovering the perception of the teachers and their answers towards the same. Hence, the question that guided the course of the investigation was "What are the responses that the educational community have for the needs of the autistic children communication?". The present study intends to contribute to the clarification of this issue. This way, the survey questionnaire was administered to the teachers, of the primary school and special education teachers in Vale the Sousa area as a working tool. Using this instrument, we intend to analyse the opinions of teachers, making a survey of the possible answers and apply them to the child with ASD. The obtained results outperformed the majority of cases, so we could conclude that currently teachers are trying to respond to the communication needs of the child with ASD. This work also suggests some strategies to help develop the skills of children with ASD, as well as some forms of intervention to use in the school context.
