Modelos neuropsicológicos del TDAH

Abstract

Los hallazgos de recientes estudios sobre neurodesarollo están contribuyendo a entender el vínculo entre la existencia de ventanas críticas o picos de neurodesarrollo en distintas regiones cerebrales y el mayor riesgo de desarrollar ciertas patologías como el trastorno de atención e hiperactividad. Uno de los hallazgos más consistentes en el TDAH, es la heterogeneidad del trastorno. Esta heterogeneidad se expresa como variabilidad en el comportamiento y en las características de los sujetos, tanto si se les observa como individuos aislados como si se les estudia grupalmente. La necesidad de dar una explicación a dicha heterogeneidad, ha generado la necesidad de formular diferentes modelos etiológicos para el TDAH, que han evolucionado desde modelos simples, basados en un déficit cognitivo central que se postula como capaz de predecir la gran diversidad de síntomas del TDAH, a modelos complejos, que postulan la presencia de vías fisiopatológicas paralelas e interrelacionadas en la etiopatogenia del trastorno. En este capítulo realizaremos una descripción de los modelos o teorías neuropsicológicas del TDAH referenciados en las últimas revisiones.

The findings of recent studies on neurodevelopment are helping to understand the link between the existence of critical windows or peaks of neurodevelopment in different brain regions and the increased risk of developing certain pathologies such as attention disorder and hyperactivity. One of the most consistent findings in ADHD is the heterogeneity of the disorder. This heterogeneity is expressed as variability in the behavior and characteristics of the subjects. The need to explain this heterogeneity has led to the need to formulate different etiological models for ADHD, which have evolved from simple models based on a central cognitive deficit that is postulated to be able to predict the great diversity of ADHD symptoms, to complex models, which postulate the presence of parallel and interrelated pathophysiological pathways in the etiopathogeny of the disorder. In this chapter we will describe the neuropsychological models or theories of ADHD referenced in the latest reviews.
