Abstract
The 9/11 attacks against the United States led to an international military action in order to depose the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Nine years later, the war still carries on and an increase of the resources for that scenario is expected, despite some reluctance from Europe. This work tries, within this context, to realize what the differences are between the coverage of two European broadsheets, a Portuguese and a Spanish, in order to uncover some of the likely motivations that lay beyond different approaches of the same international issue. This is made through an empirical analysis of some news from those papers and through a theoretical framework from the Journalism and the Political Communication.
