Esta dissertação tem como propósito analisar o impacto do Novo Coronavírus (COVID-19) na Hotelaria, através da perspetiva dos colaboradores, possibilitando identificar estratégias que possam contribuir para lidar melhor com situações de crise no futuro. Foram estruturados três objetivos de investigação, nomeadamente analisar o perfil dos colaboradores da hotelaria em Portugal, perceber de que forma a COVID-19 influenciou a atividade hoteleira e identificar as principais medidas implementadas de combate aos efeitos do Coronavírus na hotelaria.
O trabalho de investigação implicou o estudo de várias referências bibliográficas sobre Turismo e Hotelaria, com foco no impacto económico e social face à pandemia em Portugal, de modo a elaborar o contexto teórico do estudo. De seguida, foi elaborado e aplicado um inquérito online, aos colaboradores da Hotelaria em Portugal, entre 24 de abril e 15 de maio de 2020, incluindo o período de renovação pela segunda vez do estado de emergência em Portugal. Foram recolhidos 258 questionários válidos e a partir da análise dos resultados foi possível concluir, entre outros aspetos, que os estabelecimentos hoteleiros poderiam ter respondido de forma mais rápida e eficaz à COVID-19 e deviam preparar-se melhor para futuras crises, de acordo com a perspetiva dos seus colaboradores. No entanto, devido à experiência da COVID-19, o setor da Hotelaria ficou mais bem preparado para lidar com situações de crise no futuro.
This dissertation aims to analyze the impact of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Hotel Industry, through the perspective of employees, making it possible to identify strategies that can contribute to better deal with crisis situations in the future. Three research objectives were structured, namely, to analyze the profile of hotel employees in Portugal, to understand how COVID-19 has influenced hotel activity and to identify the main measures implemented to combat the effects of the Coronavirus infection in hotels. The research work involved the study of several bibliographical references on Tourism and Hospitality, focusing on the economic and social impacts that are being faced through the pandemic in Portugal, to elaborate the theoretical context of the study. Then, an online survey was prepared and applied to hotel employees in Portugal, between April 24th and May 15th, 2020, including the period of renewal for the second time of the state of emergency in Portugal. Were collected 258 valid questionnaires and from the analysis of the results it was possible to conclude, among other aspects, that hotel establishments could have responded more quickly and effectively to the COVID-19 and should prepare better for future crises, according to the perspective of its employees. However, due to the experience of COVID-19, the Hospitality sector was better prepared to deal with crisis situations in the future.
