Abstract
O mundo atravessou uma crise avassaladora levando inúmeras empresas à falência.
Todas elas lutam por um lugar no coração dos consumidores, utilizando todos os meios
ao seu alcance para que realizem os seus objetivos. Para tal, necessitam de uma
vantagem que lhes proporcione a oportunidade de ultrapassarem os seus concorrentes. A
inovação pode ser essa vantagem competitiva. Quer seja um produto ou um processo
inovador, adquirido de forma aberta ou fechada, seja incremental ou revolucionário,
pode significar um grande avanço para uma organização. No entanto, nem todos os
empresários parecem cientes da mais-valia que é a inovação. O objetivo deste trabalho é
averiguar se a inovação passou de uma oportunidade a uma necessidade para as
empresas serem mais competitivas. Será utilizada bibliografia relevante, assim como os
dados de um questionário enviado a empresas do Grande Porto. Este trabalho revela que
a inovação ainda não é a principal apostas das empresas , mas temas como a Indústria
4.0 e a Economia Circular estão a ser abordados e fazem-se chegar aos empresários
portugueses.
The world has gone through an overwhelming crisis leading numerous companies to bankruptcy. They all strive for a place in the heart of consumers, use every means to reach their goals. To do this, they need an advantage that offers the opportunity to outperform their competitors. Innovation can be this competitive advantage. Whether an innovative product or process, which can be acquired using a more open strategy or closed innovation, and can be incremental or revolutionary, can mean a breakthrough for an organization. However, not all entrepreneurs seem aware of the added value that an innovation can be. The objective of this paper is to investigate whether an innovation has changed from an opportunity to a necessity for companies to be more competitive. Relevant bibliography will be used, as well as data from a questionnaire sent to companies in Grande Porto region. This work reveals that innovation is still not one of the main bets of companies, but topics such as Industry 4.0 and Circular Economy are being addressed and are being heard by Portuguese business groups.
