Abstract
Em 2012, temos o surgimento de uma proposta de diretiva relativa à melhoria do equilíbrio entre homens e mulheres no cargo de administrador não-executivo das empresas cotadas em bolsa. Porém, analisando a evolução do processo legislativo da mesma, verifica-se que, desde 2013, se encontra em fase de primeira leitura em discussões no Conselho - fase que se mantém até hoje. Desta forma, e com base na proposta, procuramos identificar os esforços da União Europeia em legislar sobre a igualdade de género no mercado laboral ao longo os anos, sempre a considerar as suas conquistas e os seus deslizes. Por conclusão, nos determinamos a identificar o que falta para a União se tornar efetiva e mais contundente no combate à desigualdade neste setor, e o que é preciso para uma aprovação mais rápida de medidas nesse sentido.
In 2012, there is the emergence of a proposal for a directive on improving the balance between men and women in the position of non-executive director of listed companies. However, if we look at the legislative process, it appears that, since 2013, it is at first reading stage, in discussions within the Council - a stage that has continued to this day. In this way, and on the basis of the proposal, it is our duty to identify the European Union's efforts to legislate on gender equality in the labour market over the years, always taking into account its achievements and slips. In conclusion, we are determined to identify what is missing for the Union to become effective and more forceful in combating inequality in this sector, and what is needed for more rapid adoption of measures in this direction.
